It is always with great pride and excitement that I introduce myself as the principal of Blue Oak Elementary. I am passionate about education and in supporting students, parents, and teachers. I feel blessed each day, that I am the instructional leader in this school community and that I am fortunate enough to work with the students at Blue Oak each and every day. I find great joy in the work I do here.
I spent 13 years as a classroom teacher at the elementary level. I believe that great things happen in a classroom when teachers build positive relationships with students. I know that when a learning environment is engaging and safe, and students are encouraged to take risks, make mistakes, and ask questions, success is palpable.
In my five years as a school principal, I pride myself in putting students at the center of every decision. The more I am out and about with the students and staff, the more able and ready I am to properly support our students whether in academics or social emotional development. Therefore, I am not easily found in the office on a regular basis. I am at the front of the school welcoming students, in classrooms working alongside teachers, or on the playground engaging in games with the students. This is what fuels me and helps me to work with staff, students and families in order to continue the great work we do at Blue Oak.
A school cannot work in isolation if our goal is student success. It takes the school staff, families, and students working together. This is why our doors are open to our families and community. If I can ever be of assistance, please feel free to call, email or stop in for a visit.
